Sixth overall in his first full Formula One season. Unable to match BMW team mate Nick Heideld for pure speed, but accumulates a healthy 39 points, despite missing the US Grand Prix after surviving an horrific crash in the Canadian race.

Makes Formula One test debut with BMW Sauber. Becomes the sport's first Polish driver when he is promoted to a race seat for the final six rounds, replacing Jacques Villeneuve. Scores maiden podium in Italy and retains seat for 2007.
